The Minaal RFID Travel Wallet is a sleek, minimal, protective wallet ideal for storing what matters most, especially on the go. It adds little to no bulk while providing plenty of storage and organization, giving the feel of a dedicated passport sleeve or skin with added organizational features. The wallet offers phenomenal flexibility by allowing you to store the passport on either side. One side provides extra security, while the other allows easy and quick access, a feature that we’ll discuss more later. The wallet is ideal for travel as it keeps all essential items together, making it especially useful when navigating an airport with readily available access to your passport, ID, and cards.

The Rundown

The Minaal RFID Travel Wallet is crafted from scratch-resistant vegan leather, maintaining its elegant aesthetic after a decent amount of wear and tear. Having tested this out as a dedicated wallet, the only noticeable marks on the outside are the detailed lines of the leather. Despite being durable, the material is still nice to hold, soft to the touch, and flexible enough to easily bend. It feels pretty high-quality and resilient. The wallet also has a clean and minimal face with minimal branding for a low-key aesthetic that does not draw attention to itself. The only branding is a small Minaal emblem at the bottom on the back.

On the inside, an eco-friendly, zero-emission 150D microfiber lining also has a pleasant reflective accent, adding a unique look to the inside while also providing a minor degree of visibility. RFID-blocking technology safeguards your valuables from credit card skimming and identity theft while on the move. The interior pockets are large enough to accommodate banknotes, cards, and a passport yet maintain a slim profile. In addition to passports, the wallet can hold similar-sized notebooks, although it lacks a dedicated pen slot.

As for the internal organization, the left side has a cash slot on top of one of the dedicated passport sleeves. It can be used to store folded banknotes or a card securely. We found this works well for ID as it keeps it easily accessible but distinct from some of the other card slots. Behind this, the dedicated passport holder can hold one end of that document, allowing for secure storage with easy removal, or you can use the space to hold tickets or receipts. Thanks to its solid construction and design, we have little concern about items falling out.

Minaal RFID Travel Wallet Side 1
Minaal RFID Travel Wallet | Dedicated cash slot on top of the passport sleeve provides easy access to cash, cards, receipts, or tickets.

On the right, on top of the custom quick-release flap, are three additional card slots. We found these slots to be perfect for bank cards or commuter cards as they give an excellent overview and provide enough space to insert or remove cards easily. The cleverly designed and intuitive quick-release flap gets its name by providing a secure method to store your passport while also allowing for effortless removal. Perfect for going through customs or immigration when you have to remove the passport entirely.

Minaal RFID Travel Wallet Side 2
Minaal RFID Travel Wallet | Additional card slots on the right side can fit up to 3 bank cards on top of the quick-release flap.

You can slide one end of the passport behind the quick-release flap to anchor it and prevent it from falling out while allowing quick and effortless removal. This may not sound particularly groundbreaking, but it works well. Throughout our testing, we never experienced any issues with a passport falling out, but your mileage may vary.

Packability

The Minaal RFID Travel Wallet’s compact form and minimal bulk make it small enough to slip into large pockets easily, though pockets on women’s clothing may not have the same experience, as they’re usually smaller. However, this packability is perfect for ensuring you have all the essentials in one place, especially when navigating through the airport or a station. You can also throw it into another bag like a sling, backpack, or suitcase without any issues. However, if the bag’s interior is black too, that may make locating the wallet slightly more challenging. According to Minaal, this wallet is specifically designed to be compatible with their Carry-On 3.0, Daily 3.0, and Rolltop bags.

Quick Comparison

Comparing the Minaal RFID Travel Wallet to the ALPAKA Zip Travel Wallet, both offer secure storage for one or multiple passports, as well as dedicated space for extra cards, banknotes, tickets, and receipts. They are both somewhat slim and have a very minimal aesthetic. This minimal approach is especially ideal when traveling so as not to draw too much attention. However, the ALPAKA Zip Travel Wallet is noticeably larger and provides more organization both inside and out. There is a dedicated slip pocket on the outside, extra slip pockets of varying sizes inside, and even a pen loop. The wallet’s vibrant interior provides more visibility for the contents inside, and its dedicated zipper offers more security and peace of mind that nothing will fall out. Thanks to its smaller size, the Minaal RFID Travel Wallet is definitely easier to carry or stash in a pocket. It provides slightly more accessibility as you do not have to unzip anything, and it essentially acts as a sleeve. Viewing the passport inside is a bit more straightforward as well, compared to the ALPAKA Zip Travel Wallet, which requires you to remove the passport from the wallet to open it fully.

Minaal RFID Travel Wallet Comparison 2
Minaal RFID Travel Wallet | The Minaal RFID Travel Wallet provides similar organization in a smaller, more compact form.

Another potential contender is the SLNT RFID Passport Wallets, which share similar form factors and security features. Both are small, lightweight, and easily slipped into a pocket or another bag without worrying about additional bulk. Essentially passport sleeves, both wallets also feature RFID-blocking technology to protect your valuables from skimmers and hackers. The SLNT Passport Wallets takes security a step further by incorporating NFC-blocking technology. Both wallets can store multiple passports by slipping one side into each dedicated sleeve. The Minaal may not be quite as secure since one of the sleeves is their quick-release flap; however, this does make it slightly easier and faster to get a passport in or out, which can be helpful in a long line. Whether you prefer security or easy access boils down to personal preference. Another benefit of the Minaal is its additional slots and organization. Unlike the SLNT, which lacks dedicated card slots or slip pockets, the Minaal provides a much-appreciated amount of flexible and easy-to-use organization.

The Minaal RFID Travel Wallet is an excellent travel accessory to add to your arsenal thanks to its compact form, flexible organization, and stylish aesthetic. Its high-quality materials are durable enough to last, while its security and RFID-blocking technology provide peace of mind. Whether you are a frequent traveler or just someone who appreciates organization, the Minaal RFID Travel Wallet is an excellent choice.
